So, I was finishing up the Windurst Rank 2-1 quest and at the final cut scene where you tell the Taru the magic book has gone blank. He speaks of another "evil" Taru (Tarus can't be evil, they're too cute and furry) that has taken the book for himself, etc. He then tells me I must "forget any of this ever happened".
My screen goes black. A message pops up: "Error: You've been disconnected from the server." - Myself: "Man, Squeenix really went all out with this one." I try to log back in, "Content ID expired, unable to log in with this character.
It's funny how no matter what the delay is between updates to my off-again, on-again Final Fantasy XI column My Life In Vana'diel, I always get reader mail saying how it got them into the game, or they're glad I still cover this six or seven year-old MMO, and how I should bring it back. Well, I stopped mostly because I just started to get a lot busier at work, didn't have time to 1) play as much and 2) write about it, but mostly it was a little bit of burn-out. You try and keep a bunch of like-minded people together, but by the time you finally have something going, someone leaves for greener, more endgame-specific pastures.
