The Eternal Search For Catnip!
:A Maverick Angels Story
Several days have passed since the friends began their search for catnip, Miraa grew restless. Bria's time in San d'Oria kept getting extended and she was unable to get to Bastok and join the others, but as fate would have it, Tigerhawk happened by and agreed to help Miraa, Alesha search for the ever elusive catnip. Thinking his treasure hunter ability would help Tigerhawk came as his thief.
The tunnel was filled with all manner of creature and it was rumored that the worms did indeed have catnip. Upon arriving, Atavus noted how there was no apparent natural light sorce and none of the friends had torches, yet they could all see fine. Baffled by this a thought began to grow in the back of his head. Miraa not carring and always thinking of it as her cat like eye sight set off on finding worms.
There were only four of them and no real damage dealing capability to speak of, and this gave a little concern to Miraa, but there was catnip to be had and they had to go regardless. Much to her surprise, the fights went pretty well, and they were well on their way to finding that worm who had been stashing away its catnip. Starting in the front part of the tunnel, they were able to avoid having to fight multiple worms at a time.
Then, as it always is when things are going well, another party showed up and began attacking the worms. Noticing not a mithra amoung them, Miraa figured they were trying to find the catnip for themselves and then sell it on the AH at an extremely jacked up price. A little frustrated at this thought Miraa pushed on to the second room thinking maybe there would be better chance at catnip with out the other party present.
Here is where that thought came out of the back of Atavus' head. As the group was heading deeper into the tunnel, he saw for the first time a gigas. Foul and monsterious creatures, he wondered that if they too could see easily in the tunnel. Then as he looked around he noticed the others were no longer with him. It is about then that Alesha notices and says for everyone to hold up. Not paying attention to her mates, seeing as she is blinded by her search for catnip, Miraa makes her way back to the second area of worms, only to find others are there farming her precious catnip.
It is now that she notices the ramblings of her friends, and wonders aloud about how hard it is to simply follow someone. She informs her friends of the other party and that she is going to go further into the tunnel. Alesha instead decides to go back and get Atavus, seeing as he had no map and had never been here before. As she rounded the corner coming off the bridge, Atavus' quandry on if the gigas could see as well as he could was answered, as some boulders came crashing down on his friend.
Alesha politly waved to her friend and told him to not do anything as she ran into the side tunnel hoping it was to small for the gigas to follow. As her luck would have it, the gigas was forced to stop because of its own bulk and she just needed to wait a few moments for it to give up and go back to wondering how it even got into the tunnel to begin with. The gigas back to pondering its exsistence, Miraa waiting in the back of the tunnel, Tigerhawk wondering how he was to get past a slime and Atavus making sure his heart wasn't going to explode after having that gigas come within inches of crushing him, Alesha made her way back to Atavus and began to lead him towards Tigerhawk and Miraa.
Reaching Tigerhawk, who was just standing there staring at a pugil, Atavus and Alesha took a moment to catch their breath and inform Tigerhawk that this breed of pug did indead agro. Staring at this rather large fish swimming around in what amounted to nothing more then a puddle, Tigerhawk began to attempt to sneak around it. Much to his dismay, he was unable to get around the large fish, and it took chase after him. Atavus still relativly new to the world, began to wonder how this fish could move so quickly on dry land and not suffocate out of water. Once again a thought that would have to be put in the back of his mind as he followed Alesha, Tigerhawk, the pugil and now a slime(yeah Tigerhawk was no longer in avoidance mode, he was purely trying to make it to the desert.)
Miraa giggles and waved at Tigerhawk as he ran past, while Alesha and Atavus held up at thier paladin friend taking a momnet to catch thier breath and also give Tigerhawk a polite wave and cheer as he ran for the desert. As Tigerhawk continued his periless run for the desert, the other three friends paused for a moment to take in some refreshments, running around the tunnel fighting worms had made them thirsty. Upon Tigerhawk's return, Miraa quickly began finding worms to fight, she was there to get catnip, not go fishing. If Tigerhawk wanted to play with fish and missed refreshment time, it was his own tough luck.
The friends fought worms for several hours and nothing, just stupid ores, flint stones and earth crystals. It was getting late and as Miraa's luck would have it, Tigerhawk had to be going. So the group began to head in. Cursing her luck, Miraa began to wonder how they were gonna beat the catnip out of the worms now with just three people, when her luck seemed to change and Bria arrived in Bastok and the new four head back into the tunnel.
Several hours they fight, and several hours they get no catnip. Things are going rather on the boring side when Bria discovers that her battle dance spell is an area of effect and a bat has wondered a little to close to the party. The worm dead, the group fight valiantly against the bat and it appears it will be for not as they are all getting rather beat up and everyones magic is nearly depleted, when suddenly Atavus temporarily loses his newbness and uses his benediction to save himself and his friends. Everyone redoubles their efforts and take the bat down, as it is now solidly focused on Atavus.
Their efforts go well and they are able to stop the bat before their friend is taken down. With this they decide that perhaps they have done enough for one night and it is time to go in. As they head back into Bastok they also decide that perhaps they should move their search for catnip to Qufim Island next time. It is agreed upon and the friends say their good nights and head to bed.
