Which way to face using "X" crystal? After hearing this question soooo many times I cant possibly count how many, I started thinking... how right are the charts floating around out there? Tonight I decided I would put info provided from the game to good use. Here is a crafting compass based on what NPC's tell you, keep in mind I have not tested this only speculating..however it makes more sense than any other chart ive seen. Let me know what u think.

Based on this example in theory lets say u wanted to HQ with lightning. You would craft on Earthsday facing South during New Moon phase. This is determined by what Element overpowers another. One other interesting thing i noticed about the elemental weaknesses and the star chart...they run in order clockwise and counterclockwise, as if u can map out the sky according to elemental strengths and weaknesses. But...thats just my thoughts... If Anyone tests this theory out please let me know how it goes. ^^ I will be doing the same.

Test #1 Results 36 Synth Attempts - 34 Success - 2 Failures with 1 out of 2 Sheep Leather Lost. Skill Range: Level 4 Leathercraft - Level 8 Averaged .1 skill per synth, every single time! >.> (some 0.2's) This was during 95% Full Moon using wind on Earthsday, facing southeast. Room mate also tested it out and had very good success skilling alchemy at level 35-36. Further test results to follow.

Not sure if I understand this... If I wanted skillups with an Earth Crystal synth, does this mean to do it on Windsday, facing south, during a quarter moon?

For best skill yes, only during full moon is part u missed. As far as direction goes im still figuring out whether or not it would be best to point at the elemental weakness direction...guess further tests will tell.

i just looked at the star map am i miss reading it i see it as north-dark NE-light E-ice SE-wind S-earth SW-thunder W-water and NE-fire

But because on both your head is north and your feet are south east and west are switched on the maps.

if you look what i said and the compass you have are the same i just missunderstood the colors you had used now that you added the second line with the element with the color i understand my error. thanks for making it easer

recently i had a few wind crystals and arrowwood logs

i synthed on wind day, facing east. dont know the moon cycle.
Succesfully cut the log   +0.1

But still Chain is right: there are many factors and at the moment it looks like directions, etc. influence the crafting process. So we can make a theory how crafting works, which is correct - for now. As always this theory doesn't has to be proven right but has to be proven wrong before you throw it away.
