If there is anyone out there with a good guide or some tip for a newcomer in Alchemy, I'd very my appreciate some
tips, help or comments. I am currently level 9 Alchemy and trying tolevel up by making Vials of Mercury, 4x Cobalt Jellyfish &Lightning Crystal.

If anything or not, thanks :)

This is the guide I used. I got it from Allakhazam in the guild guide sections. I would also be happy to answer any other questions you might have...give me a /t or message here.

If your at 9, mercury is a good synth to go with. To help negate the loss, rearrage your moghouse so that you have a thunder element or desynth effect. If you can afford it, grab a waste basket and/or a tarutaru stool. Having either effect in your MH lowers the loss of items on a bad synth. When your ready to move to the next synth, I susgest Echo Drops (Water Crystal, sage, & honey). Switch your mh to water element before you start (http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/ gives quick charts of all furnishings, which element aligned to, and special effects). If you run low on gil while waiting for the mercury to sell, go hunt maneating hornets on Z-hill in North Gustaberg. Turn the beehive chips into beeswax (which is expensive in AH and you will need for your next synth), and stingers into posion dust. Im on silent oil right now. Stopping to hunt up the chips and making a killing in Jeuno AH on the oil (30-40k a stack & sells almost as fast as I can put it up).

Currently my alchemy is lvl 21 and to get there i did the cheapest way i could find. this was: Tsuaras (rock salt, distilled water and ice) and Beeswax( bee chive chips x 3, distilled water and fire) til 4, Deoderizers (chamomile, sage, olive oil, and wind) til 10, Poison dust (yellow globes x 2 and lightning) til 12, i tried doing Mercury (cobalt jellies x 4 and lightning) but its hard to find cheap cobalt jellies unless your gonna beat someone out to it when the guilds (fishing 3:00 and alchemy 8:00) open, so i tried my luck with adv support from the guild and did echo drops (sage honey and water) til 20 and now im skilling on silent oils which is a lvl 24 and 29 cap. only thing ive bought from the ah was maybe a few crystals everything else is farmable and easily bought from an npc for relatively cheap.

Ok, tryed to post a reply, then edit it, but the format got all screwed up, so here it is again. lol I'm lvl 69 alchemy and I used RPGexpert.com's guide to get there. Here's a link to the guide: http://www.rpgexpert.com/3974.html The nice thing about this guide is that it not only tells you what to make and how to make it, but it also tells you the best places to get the materials for it as well^^
